Program Overview
Fall 2026
Winter Guard is an indoor performance ensemble that brings the artistry of color guard from the football field into the gymnasium. Performing to recorded music, Winter Guard combines dance, choreography, flag work, rifle and saber spinning, and theatrical storytelling into a powerful visual performance.

During the winter season, students rehearse and perform choreographed shows that are judged at competitions throughout the region. Performances are evaluated on equipment technique, movement, design, and overall effect, with each team receiving a score and ranking within their competitive class.

A Winter Guard performance takes place on a large vinyl floor tarp that transforms the gym into a performance space. Once the music begins, performers use coordinated movement, expressive dance, and equipment work to bring the show’s theme to life. Performances may also include creative props and costuming that support the story being told.
