Recordings
Here is the library of audio recordings reaching back as far as 1960 (this is a work in progress, more will be posted over time). Any notes found with the recordings have been posted with the MP3 files. Some of the titles and dates are unknown. Do you recognize them or know some of the history? Let us know! Special thanks to Tony Vink for helping to preserve the recordings off of the old reel to reel tapes. Right click on the link and select "Save Link As" or "Save Target As" to download a copy of the MP3 file.

PhotoShare Categories
You can access the categories screen by clicking on the Categories button in the Photo Upload Panel.
There are many categories in PhotoShare spanning many years. To make the upload process easier we created a specific category called "Upload" to upload your photos. You may or may not see additional categories under the Upload directory depending on what categories other members have created for thiie photos or administrators have created. These categories help the site administrators move the photos to the correct locations so they can be approved for publication. The categories you create might be deleted after your photos are uploaded to the main gallery pages, so you might need to create them again when uploading more photos.
Buttons
There are two buttons on the categories page. The first, named "New category", gets you to the screen where you can create a new category for your photos. The second button, which is at the bottom of the screen, is named "Back to 'My Gallery'". This button returns you to the Photo Upload Panel.
Filtering
There are two options that affect the categories display.
- Display Num: This control, located right under the New category button, controls how many categories are displayed in this screen.
- Select State: This controls whether the categories that are published or not published are listed. Set back to "Select State" to remove the filtering
Table
The table shows all the categories you created, and allows you to edit or delete the categories you have already created (if any).
- Click on the name of the category to rename it. There is no need to add a description.
- Images tells you how many images are in that category.
- Parent tells you to which category this category belongs.
- Actions allows you to either edit or delete the category
- Published shows whether the Published setting is set. This has no effect since these photos will not be published until the administrator moves the photos to their designated locations.
- The Back to My Gallery button returns you to the Photo Upload Panel.
Creating Categories
Clicking on the "New category" button takes you to the screen where you can create your category.
- Title is the name of the category you are creating. Be sure to be descriptive in this title so we know where on the site the photos uploaded to this category should be files.
- Parent Category is where you specify where in the path you want your category to be placed. For example, if you created a "Nationals" category, you can create "Prelims", "Semi Finals" and "Finals" categories under it. You can also just create "Nationals Prelims", "Nationals Semi Finals" and "Nationals Finals" at the top "Upload" directory. All that really matters is that the source of the photos can be identified.
- All the other fields can be ignored. They are either not used or set to their default so no changes are required.
- The Save and Cancel buttons are at the bottom of the screen
- FTP Categories: If you are using an FTP client to upload photos, you will need to create folders with descriptive names and upload your photos in the directories you create. Refer to the FTP Uploads tab of the Upload section of the Upload Panel for more information.

PhotoShare Upload
Tabs
There are three tabs on the Upload screen.
- Start Here First! - This tab has some important information about uploading to the site. Be sure to review this information before uploading photos to the site.
- Single Images - This tab allows you to select individual image files for upload. This is the simplest way to upload photos.
- FTP Upload - This tab displays information about uploadig files using an FTP client.
Start Here First!
This tab has some instructions and tips for uploading to the site.
Single Images
The single image upload is pretty straight forward.
- Select the category to which the photos you are uploading belong. If you have not created a category for these photos yet, select Cancel and create the category first.
- Select up to 10 photos to upload.
- Press the Upload button.
You will receive a message after the upload is complete showing the files have been uploaded successfully. You will receive what might look like error messages if you upload less than 10 files. Don't worry about those; the log is just telling you there were no files to upload in those slots.
FTP Uploads
The FTP Uploads tab gives instructions on how to upload images using an FTP client. If you know what that means, you will find the information on how to transfer your files up, including the user ID and password for that account. If FTP clients don't ring a bell and you have many files to upload, send a note to the General Informatoin mail box on the Contacts page.
PhotoShare Photo Upload Panel
The Photo Upload Panel is the control center for photo uploads. You can only access this function if you are registered with the site and logged in. When logged in, there is a link that appears to the top left of the gallery that says "Photo Upload Panel". Click this link to access the panel.
The photo upload panel shows some information about what you have already uploaded (if anything) and provides links to upload files and create categories.
Buttons
There are two buttons at the top of the photo upload panel. The first button, named "Categories", gets you to the category screen where you can tell the site to what category the photos you are uploading belong. The second, named "Upload", gets you to the upload screen. You can get the documentation for these two screens by clicking the relative link above.
Filtering and Sorting
The next section of the page controls the filtering and sorting of the Photo Upload Panel. If you haven't uploaded any photos yet, these controls will not serve any function. Once you start uploading files, these filters may help you sort through your photos.
- Display Num - This control, located right under the Upload and Categories buttons, controls how many photos are displayed in the Photo Upload Panel. IMPORTANT - do not select "All" if you have a significant number of photos. This would generate sigificant traffic which could cause slowness not only for you but for the other people using the site, or it will cause the script to run out of memory and return error messages..
- Search - Enter the name of the file for which you are searching. There is no search button so you just need to hit enter after typing in the search terms.. To remove the filter, delete all the text in this field and hit enter.
- Sort by order - This changes the order of the photos in the Photo Upload Panel. Feel free to experiment with the different settings to see what works best for you.
- Filter by type - There are two different settings on each photo that controls whether the photo will display on the site. The first is "Published", and the second is "Approved". By default, all uploaded photos are Published so you can ignore that setting. The photos will be approved once the administrators move them to their proper locations. You can filter for "Not Approved" to see which photos have not yet been migrated.
- Filter by category - this list shows all the categories available on the site, both published and unpublished. Note that this setting will only show the photos in the specified category and not the photos from associated subcategories.
Are you not seeing the photos you uploaded? This is typically due to the filtering settings. Reset all the settings above to their defaults settings to reset the view. Delete all the text from the search field, set Filter by type to "- Select State -", and Filter by category to "- Select Category -". The Sort by order setting will not prevent photos from displaying.
Photo Table
Below all the filters is the main body of the page. This shows the list of all the photos you uploaded to the site. Here are some notes about using the photo tables:
- Click on the file name to open the image.
- Hits shows the number of times the photo was opened in the gallery.
- The categories links take you out to the gallery in the category or subcategory on which you just clicked.
- Actions allows you to delete photos you have uploaded but have not yet been approved and migrated by the administrators. If you wish to have a photo removed (regardless of who uploaded the photo), send a message to the general information box on the contacts page.
- Published will show a green check-mark. All photos are set to published by default.
- The photos will be approved once the administrator moves the photos to their designated location. It will show up as a red "x" until its approved, then will show up as a green arrow once it has been migrated and approved. The administrators will publish the photos as soon as possible, but it might take a week or so depending on other activities (we're all volunteers with day jobs). Send a note to the PCMB Info mailbox on the contacts page if these photos sit unapproved for a long time.

PhotoShare Directions
PhotoShare is a great way to share your experiences with others. There are a few things to keep in mind to make the process easier both for you and for the site administrators. The directions come in four parts as show below. The first is this page with general information, and the other three with specific information about the three Web pages you will need to use to share your photos.
What is PhotoShare?
PhotoShare is the place where you can share your photographs with registered members of this Web site. Many of these photos will show up in the video yearbook and the slide show at the band bandquet as well as other publications (including this site). We encourage everyone who takes pictures at any band event to share them here.
What can I share?
You can share any photographs you took at any band event, whether it be Marching Band, one of the Concert programs, a Winter program, any fund raiser or any event that involves the band. If you have items for the scrapbook, such as newspaper articles or miscellaneous graphics, send a note to the General Information box on the contacts page.
How do I share my photos?
There are three components of the PhotoShare Upload function.
- PhotoShare Photo Upload Panel - This is the place where you can see the photos you have uploaded in the past (if any) and to where they were migrated by the site administrators. There are options for sorting and filtering the photos you uploaded.
- PhotoShare Categories - This is where you tell us to what category your photos belong so they can be migrated to the correct location.
- PhotoShare Upload - This is where the actual uploading takes place. You can upload files one at a time or receive instructions on how to upload to the site using an FTP client.
After you upload your photos, a site administrator will migrate them to their proper place in the PhotoShare Gallery. They will not be visible to the public until they have been migrated, but you will still be able to view your photos through this panel.
