The team, comprised of 31 P-CEP students, presented the audience with three amazing performances of their program, Calculating Infinity. In the preliminary round of the Scholastic Marching Open Semifinals, the team had a third place finish in their first round block with a score of 90.400. In the semifinal round, the team received a score of 91.625 in their block and placed fourth, qualifying them for the final round.

P-CEP competed against the top 15 Scholastic Marching Open level winter percussion teams in the world in the final round, and received a score of 89.888.

According to the team’s coach, James Sparling, the production is influenced by Galileo and his use of mathematics to explain the universe.

“The ensemble had a great season,” said Sparling. “Their attitudes and commitment to excellence grew each day and we as a staff are very proud of them!”

In addition to their incredible performances at the world competition, the P-CEP Winter Percussion was the 2018 WGI Dayton Regional Silver Medalist and the 2018 MCGC State Champions.
