Alumni Band 2004 Practice

Variety Is... is one of our most fun fund raisers. Each year, near the end of January, our PCEP music students produce and star in a wacky variety show where almost anything goes.

If you like marching band humor and poking fun at our instructors, you like Variety Is. We also have some really talented students who perform more serious fare.

Each of our day bands performs an abbreviated version of one of their concert Alumni Band 2004pieces too. Our Jazz and Pep bands are also represented in the show. For the grand finale, dancing to a rousing cadence, the marching band pours onto the stage in a massive onslaught from every conceivable passage and performs the music from the current years show. Some tears are always shed as the kids realize that this is the last time they will perform the show music together.

Special for 2004

This year 71 of our PCEP Alumni converged on Plymouth High School for a weekend reunion starting Glen Adsitwith, of course, band practice and ending with a special performance at Variety Is...

In the middle there was a banquet and lots of Camaraderie that spanned 29 years of PCEP band.

Pictured here, former PCEP band director, Glen Adsit is now the director of bands at The Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford.

Adsit also conducted the University of Michigan All-State Intermediate Orchestra for seven years at the Interlochen Center for the Arts in Interlochen, Mich.

Prior to his university appointments, he taught for seven years in the Michigan public schools at both the junior high and high school levels. Under his direction, the Plymouth Centennial Marching Band was a two-time Bands of America Grand National Champion.
