“Magicians” work their magic in keeping the marchers looking good on the field.  Many hours are spent maintaining the uniforms and helping the students dress before each competition.  This job requires a person who likes attention to detail.  Magicians spend a lot of time helping the students, so patience and the ability to work with teenagers are important.  Sewing skills are helpful, but not mandatory.

Some of the responsibilities:

  • Assisting with Fitting Day in August.  This is a full day commitment.
  • Assisting with maintaining and organizing uniforms, often on a weekly basis, throughout the marching band season.  Assistance is also required at various times during the summer and winter to inventory and prepare uniforms for the coming season.
  • Helping students dress in uniform before each competition – answering questions, loaning items, enforcing band dress code, and giving encouragement!
  • Magicians also work during the summer making sure students have the appropriate parade attire.
  • Chaperoning is often a part of the job.  Magicians often ride the busses to competitions and assist students and staff, as needed.

This is a unique opportunity to work behind the scenes helping the students.  Many hours of work are rewarded by seeing the marchers walk onto the field looking their best.  Magicians are a team that is dedicated to hard work and creating the best possible experience for our kids.
