Mike Wells currently serves as the Director of Bands for Plymouth-Canton Educational Park in Canton, MI. Mike holds a B.M. in Euphonium Performance from Western Michigan University and Post-Baccalaureate teaching certificate in music from Westfield State University in Westfield, MA.

Prior to his appointment, Mike maintained a private lesson studio consisting of students studying Euphonium, Trombone, and Tuba. These students enjoyed numerous accolades on a district, regional, and state level. Mike has also worked within the South Lyon and Wayne-Westland school districts as a music educator.

Mike is also a sought after drill writer, having designed visual programs for ensembles in Michigan, Illinois, Kentucky, Ohio, North Carolina and Virginia. Some of his clients have included Kentucky State Champions Estill County and Russell County, Wisconsin State Champion River Falls, Barren County (KY), Olentangy (OH), United Township (IL), Washington County (KY), Hardin Valley Academy (TN) and Fairfax (VA) among several others. These ensembles have enjoyed success at numerous BOA events and earned several State and Regional Championships as well as visual awards.

‚ÄčAs an instructor, Mike has worked with some of the finest performance ensembles across the country. In addition to working previously in several capacities with the nationally acclaimed Plymouth-Canton Marching Band, he has served in similar positions with BOA Semi-Finalists Lockport Township (IL), Rockford (MI), and Reeths-Puffer (MI). Mike has served as Visual Caption Head for Genesis Percussion (PIW) and currently serves as the visual designer for Capital City Percussion (PIW). He also teaches on the visual staff for the Boston Crusaders. Prior to working with the Boston Crusaders, Mike served on the visual staff of the Blue Knights, Teal Sound, and was the Visual Caption Head at the Troopers.

During his collegiate career, Mike performed in the Symphonic Band at Western Michigan, earning principal euphonium for his final 4 semesters. In addition to taking part in many community outreach concerts with the Symphonic Band, Mike performed with the WMU Tuba Euphonium Ensemble as they were invited to perform in the 2009 Army Band Tuba Euphonium Conference in Washington, DC. As a marching member, Mike played baritone and euphonium for the Glassmen Drum & Bugle Corps (Toledo, OH) and the Carolina Crown Drum & Bugle Corps (Fort Mill, SC).

As an alumnus of P-CEP, Mike owes his passion for music to his time spent playing in the concert and marching ensembles of the Plymouth Canton Community Schools.
